Finland Futures Research Centre
Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRC) in a multidisciplinary academic organisation working on research, education and development projects. The centre specializes in futures studies and foresight and the research focuses mainly on themes such as environmental and energy research, innovations, social and cultural research and research on creative industries.
FFRC is the only academic futures research organisation in Finland and also the biggest in the Nordic countries. It refines visionary knowledge regarding alternative futures and the challenges and possibilities included in them. Our multidisciplinary research activities cover a wide range of academic branches and give a solid background for applied research, education and development projects. Through education and development projects FFRC offers its clients the tools to better forecast future developments and control change processes. FFRC offers graduate and doctoral students study programmes on futures studies and on responsible business.
FFRC has offices in Turku, Helsinki and Tampere and it employs more than 50 persons. The centre has a wide and multidisciplinary national and international network. The researchers at the centre are active in many international networks such as the Club of Rome, World Futures Studies Federation, World Futures Society and Association of Professional Futurists. Each year, FFRC organises an annual conference, which is an invaluable opportunity for meeting, exchanging and debating current topics related in futures studies and foresight.
